Padhma Creations main goal is to provide women artisans with knitting skills that can help them rise above poverty and make them more financially independent. Although we are a newly formed grassroots enterprise, we have 20 children in our education scholarship program and we have recently set up a mini health care program. Not only do we pay our knitters wages that are higher than the market rate in Nepal; we also re-invest 100% of our profits back into Padhma so that we can strive be self-sustainable and develop support programs for the women and children. The Padhma Creations Health Fund provides our knitters and their children with basic health care, an expense that a lot of Nepalese simply cannot afford. As we sell more products Padhma aspires to combat many challenges in health and education for each mother, father and child in rural Nepal. We recently set up a clothes drive in Kathmandu, Nepal asking people to donate clothes to the women and children at our shelter in Nepalgunj. The shelter is a transit home for women who have been inflicted with domestic violence, trafficking and other social problems. In a year, our shelter is a transit home for about 300 women. Our clothes drive was very successful and we hope to do more this year! Every product you purchase has a direct impact on the lives of our artisan knitters. I would like all our customers and well wishers to know that we are thankful for you being a part of this rewarding endeavor!
